The Small Wonder Doll

What better birthday present for a 12 year old Small Wonder
than a doll made to look like her character Vici?

The doll story?

Lowell may not make it sound as impressive as some might:

I decided that one year, for her birthday, I would have a Small Wonder doll made up. My mother and I found a collector doll that looked just like Tiffany so I bought it.

Then I had a very talented seamstress make up the dress from a picture I had from an advertisement in "Variety" magazine.  I went to the fabric store and shopped 'til I dropped to find just the right material for the dress and lace trim for the pinafore.  (I think the seamstress had the red zig-zag material) Anyway, with nothing more than a picture to go on, Mrs. Nelson made the doll look just like Small Wonder, as you can see.

But the doll was impressive enough that TIffany's mother allowed that her first thought when she saw the doll in the box was "Did we sign a contract for VICI dolls to be made a distributed?  I don't remember seeing this before."
